Hair thinning

Thinning hair rarely has a single cause. Hormonal change, stress, diet, genetics, medication, and simple mechanical damage from heat and styling can all play a part, often at the same time.

It is also worth separating two different things. Losing density means fewer hairs. Losing volume often means the hairs you have are finer, drier or breaking partway along their length. The second is far more responsive to how you care for your hair, and it is where most people see the quickest visible improvement.

If your hair has changed noticeably and you are not sure why, a trichologist or your GP can help you work out which is which.

What tends to help

  • Reducing breakage: less heat, less tension, gentler detangling
  • Conditioning the scalp, not just the lengths
  • Eating enough, particularly protein and iron
  • Sticking with a routine long enough to judge it. Give it three months

Our Hair Nourishment Oil is a blend of cold-pressed organic oils formulated to condition the scalp and support hair that looks thicker and healthier.
